Sidcup, Kent
Water feature
Description: The plot was an area under a mature laurel tree in a large rear garden of 1960’s semi-detached red brick house with a south-east aspect.

Brief: To create a natural looking waterfall water feature under a mature laurel nestled between an existing rockery, creating a gentle and relaxing background noise during the spring/summer months, with lighting installed to maximise the effect in the evenings.

Solution: The client chose Rockways Resin water feature; flat slate bends and drop sections, a three tired system dropping into a shallow pond. The laurel was thinned out to create more light to the area. Additional soil was introduced to form a mound as a platform for the upper piece of the water feature, and rocks and planting added to help retain the soil and to give the water feature a naturalistic look. Lighting was installed both as up lighters to the surrounding plants and tree, and within the pond itself for maximum impact during summer evenings.
